Nicolas Fouquet, Superintendent of Finances under Louis XIV in the 17th century had impeccable taste. To build the elaborate château he had in mind, hired only the best artists, architects, and landscapers of the time: Charles Le Brun, Louis Le Vau, and André Le Notre all of whom were subsequently hired by the Sun King himself to undertake the construction of Chateau de Versailles.

He had more than 18,000 workers to take care of the château and gardens. Today, it is maintained by the Voguë family and their 35 employees, who have masterfully recreated the glories of the history of this castle.

Your private guide will take you through the château with the story of the party that ultimately caused the envy of Louis XIV to swell to such a state that it eventually led to the arrest and consequent demise of Fouquet. The tour will be followed by lunch at the château’s restaurant. After, you will stroll through the splendor of the French garden.
